Canterbury Athletic Clubs Protection Association.
The third annual general meeting of the Canterbury Athletic Cluba Protection Association was held at the Clarendon Hotel last evening ; present — Messrs G. J. C. Smart (Christohurch Amateur Swim- [ ming Club) in the chair, W. E. Mills (Chris tchur oh Sailing Club), S. L. Partridge (Union Eowing Club), T. S. Mortlook (Sydenbam Football Club), C. J. Styche (Richmond Amateur Swimming Club), T. Buntin (Papanui Athletic Club), G. Stening (Young Men's Christian Association Eowing Club), A. J. Sarge (Midland Cricket Club) and H. Hellyer (Warehousemen's Cricket Club). The Committee, in its annual report, congratulated the Clubs belonging to the Association upon the success achieved during the past season. Daring the year the number of defaulters dealt with had been eighteen, but of this number ten had been induced to settle with their respective Clubs j eight were finally declared defaulters, making fourteen since the Btart of the Association. The reduced subscription of 6b had been found ample for carrying on the work of the Association, as after all accounts had- been paid, there was still a balance in hand of £7 16s sd. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to have amounted to £9 Us, and the expenditure to £3 14s 7d, leaving a balance to credit of .£7 16s sd. On the motion of Mr Millg, seconded by Mr Partridge, the report and balancesheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows :— -Hon Secretary and Treasurer, Mr G-. J. C. Smart; Committee, Messrs W. B. Eyre, A. Cant, T. S. Mortlock, S. L. Partridge and T. Buntin ; Auditor, Mr H. Hellyer. The following Clubs were affiliated: — Bichmond and Sb Albans Amateur Swimming • Clubs, Papanui Athletic Club, Kaiapoi Football Club, United and Warehousemen's Cricket Clubs and Lyttelton Eowing Club. After disposing of some routine business, and passing a vote of thanks to the retiring officers and the Chairman, the meeting closed.
