A Bad Boy.— Alfred Ford, a boy aged about fifteen, was charged with stealing, on Oct. 2, a letter aupposed to contain a £1 note from the dwelling-house of his mother, Bosetta Ford. The boy admitted the offence, but said the letfcer only contained 10s. Mrs Ford stated that she had been out of work for some time, and on Oct. 2 her daughter sent her a letter which contained a sum of money. Witness was away from home when the postman delivered the letter, but when she returned in the evening she was informed that her son had stolen it. She charged him with stealing it, and he at once ad- j mitted that he had burnt the letter and taken the money, amounting to 10a* She did not wish to press the charge against' her son, but would like him to know that he could not steal his mother's money. The boy, in answer to their Worships, said he was sorry for what he had done ; he intended going to work at once, and would not come before the Court again. He was convicted and severely cautioned, their Worships remarking that if he came before the Court again he would be sentenced to six months' imprisonment on the present charge. He was then allowed to go.
