[Peb " Stab's " Pigeon Expbbss.J THIS DAT. The weather waß all thafc could be ', desired for the live stock market at i Aldington to-day, and the attendance was i far the largest seen at the yards for a long I time. The entries in all classes, except fatcatfcle, were extremely good, and business was fairly active. L Store Sheep.— About 2000 store sheep > came to hand, mostly ewes with lambs, and hoggets. There was a decided improvement in the demand, ewes with lambs i i selling up to 22s per couple, and some fine i -healthy hoggets going as high as 14s lOd.
Fat Sheep. — About 5000 fat sheep formed the week's supply, a considerable portion of which were merinos. Some large lines of really good croas-bred wethera were included in the entry, and business assumed a healthy tone, although values were, if anything, a little eaßier than last week. The feature of the market was a lot of grand crosß-bred wetherß sent forward by Mr C. Hurst, of Southbridge. ■ They were the firßt shorn sheep seen in the yards this season, and.wereeold by Messra H. Matson and Co., the best pen reachinp 17s Id. Fat Lambs.— -A good market of fat lambs— about 300 being yarded — were all disposed of, the better sorts showing an advance in price. Fat Cattle.— The week's supply of fat cattle consisted of 63 head only. The quality was poor, the entry being composed almost entirely of second quality cow and heifer beef. The only steer in brought £6 128 6d 5 cows from .£6 5a to .£9 15a, and heifers £6 5s to £1 14 a. The short supply caused keen, competition, and prices showed a further advance. Store Cattle.— There was a medium entry of store cattle, amongst which were some good young stock, but buyers were scarce, and very little business was done. Pigs. — A fair entry of pigs came to hand, all classes being well represented. Baconers and porkers were slightly easier, but young stores were eagerly sought after, and a considerable rise in price has to be i reported. 1
