Electoral Rights.
{Lyttelton Times.) Thr Legislative Councillors amased themselves yesterday afternoon by adding to the Electoral Acfc Amendment Bill a clause providing for the issue of electoral rights to women. It is unnecessary to Bay that this is only a flippant piece. of bravado on the part of the members of the Upper Chamber, who wished probably to show the Government that tbey were not overawed by Sir Patrick Buckley's recent allusion to the possibilities of the future. The House of Representatives will, of course, expunge the addition to tne Bill, asd this may lead to the sacrifice of the "shearers' rights." If that should be the result ot: the Council's little joke, the shearers and their friends will probably remember how much, thay owe to. the membets of tbat august body.
