ANNUAL HORSE PARADE.

. » The annual parade of Btud horses, under the auopicea of tho Canterbury Agricultural and Paßtoral Association, waa held at the Show ground, Addington, to-day. Tho attendance waa not very large, but considerable interest waa manifested in the proceedings by thoae present. The weather was perfect, and the rain which had fallen during the night left the ground in very good order. There were aixty-nine horaea j on parade, thia being nine in excess of laat year's pumber. The arrangements were all I that conld be deßired, and the proceedinga j were carried out promptly under the management of Meaora W. Boag, W. HenderI eon, J. Feather, J. Deanc, J. Ferguaon, and the Hon E. Gray. The draught horses were superior lot, soma of the youngoi. ones showing a good deal of quality. A dozen thoroughbreds paraded. They ; wero Chainshot, Artillery, Ahua, Fleur De i Lya, Sb George, Ozioso, Wayland, Total : Eclipse, Stonyhurst, Artilleryman, Bur. j lington and Hunnington. The majority i were in capital condition, and Chaiu9hot, \St George, Artillery and Stonyhurst I attracted a good deal of attention. 1 ! There ''was an exceedingly largo parade ' |in the class for icadstera and carriage i horaes, and, aa uaual, a very mixed lot i were shown. Some of the horaea were 1 j excellent "types of animala, whioh are | certainly calculated to improve the breed • ! in general. Othera, on the contrary, were ■ ; quite the reverse, and are not likely, it ia t to be hoped, to receive much patronage i ; from breeders. • j The poniea were, on the whole, an im- >'; provement on those that paraded laßt year, i 1 but there is etiil plenty of room for I j furthor improvement in this particular clasß. Ten paraded, and of those the ■ Arabs — Better Daya and Kingsley, Cock o' I the North and Sonny were apparently moat • ! in favour.
