» The Eawhiti Assembly held its weekly session in the Druids' Hall on Wednesday evening, the Master Workman presiding. Correspondence was received— From the Dunedin local Assembly. From Mr W. W. Carlile, of Woodville, enclosing copy of J a statement submit te d to the Hon the j Native Minister in regard to the disposal of variouß blocks of land in the North Island, A copy of the Westland Miner was also S received. The members of Committee f who attended the recant public meeting in j the Oddfellows' Hall in reference to the j Midland Eailway submitted their report, which was discussed by a number of the members. The questions to b 9 submitted to the various candidates at the forthcoming election were conaidered, and referred to the Parliamentary Committee, as was also tho /.election of the names of suitable peraons to represent this constituency The following resolutions were unanimously carried :—" That this local assembly views with regret the action of the action of the Hon W. C. Walker when the Industrial Conciliation Bill was before the Legislative Council, he having been called there to further tbo Government measures aad not to obstruct them." " That this Assembly congratulates tbe women of New K...la\id on their enfranchisemaat and i.t,_..in__.ent of political equality, and thanks those gentlemen of 'the ____gisla_tu_T. who so gallantly fought' tho question, out to a successful j issue."
