THE WELLINGTON WORKING MESS'S CLUB.
No Gambling Allowed. [Per PREes Association.J WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. A young man, who was before the Court this week on a charge of embezzling small sums from his employer, said that he had lost money gambling at the Working Men's Club. The Committee was very indignant, made enquiries, and directed its solicitor to publish the correspondence on the subject with the accused's solicitor. From this it appears that the man was not a member of the Club, and was not known ! to have been gambling there, wheie strict rules against the practice are, according to the Committee, enforced. His solicitor says ; that the young fellow told him that the ! gambling was done secretly, and with the i ' knowledge that ifc waß against the rules.
