Canterbury Rugby Union

♦ A meeting of the Committee of the Canterbury Eugby Union was held at the Clarendon Hotel last evening* present— Dr Jennings (Vice-President, in the chair), Mesars G. W. Forbes, T.S.Marshall, W. Balcb, H. Frost, T. W. Reese and T; E. Cresswell (Hon Secretary). Final arrangement* were made for suitably entartaining the Otigo and Southland representative t?amß. The Secretary Btated that the Otago team would arrive by the express i ta-morrow evening, and that about thirty of t'ae local bandsmen would meet it at the Christahurch railway station, where a drag would be in readiness to take the members to their hotel. The Canterbury and Union Eowing Clubs had decided to plase their boat 3at the disposal of the team. It was unanimously decided to hold a fish supper at the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce at nine o'clock on Saturday evening, and to invita the Otago and Canterbury representative taams. The Secretary wag instructed to issue complimentary tickets to three members o£ each senior Club and. two tickets to two members of each junior and Thursday afternoon Club affiliated to the Union. Representatives from the variou3 Athletic Clubs in the city will be invited to attend, and also the officers of the Union. On Friday the Sydenham and Linwood Football Club 3 and Union Eowing Club will invite the Ofcago representatives to attend their " socials." The Southland representative team will arrive next Tuesday evening. It was decided to entertainthe members at the theatre and at other amusements. It was resolved to start the match wifch Otßgo at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday, to enable visitors from the country to attend the match and return home by the evening trains. After disposing of some routine business the me9ting closed.
