A pleasing little ceremony took placo on Thursdap evening, when several members of the Kice^rton Jockey Boys' Club waited on Mr R. Derrstt at hia home, and asked his acceptance of a small gilt in token of appreciation of the service 3 he had rendered ia aviating to bring the Club to its now fl/uuahing state. Mr DerreU, who has besn very active in promoting 'he good of the Club, recently tested office. The presentation consisted of a silvermounted ebony walking-Btick and a cigarca<e, each of which bore a suitable inscription. The President, in handing over the gift?, hoped that Mr Derrpts would in the future again ccc his wayt'N hold office. Mr Derretb euitibly ack^ 2edged the presentation. A general meeting of the Waimate Harrier Club was hsld on Thursday nitrht ; present— Messrs W.M'Govern, Cx. Barclay, W. H. Beckett, G. S. Mathias, E. 0. Studholme, M. C. Studholme, P. Dooley, W. G. Smith and {ho Secretary, Mv E. C. Foot. The Maefcer, Mr W. Q. Suiitb, occupied the chair. The provisional balance-sheet, as presented by the Secretary, was adopled, as was also the bal^nce-

Mr Stu'dholme was asked to ascertain who placed aud timed the horses, as it had been stated that some cf the horees scoring points were not past the post within the three-minute limit allowed. Mr W. G. Smith (Master) and Mr E. C. Foot (Secretary) wrote, resigning their positions, as both were about to leave the district. Mr G. Barclay was appointed Secretary, and Mr W. Hamilton was authorised to countersign the Club's cheques. Votes of thanks to the retiring officers brouebt the meeting to a close.
