FOOTBALL.
The annual carnival under the auspices of the Canterbury Eugby Union will be held at Lancaster Park on Saturday, Sept. 16. The seven- a-Bide tournaments are open to members of the Senior, Junior Flag, President's Cup and Thursday Flag teams. Two 110 yds flat races and a onemile steeplechase are also included in the programme. The following will represent Akaroa First v. Sydenham, at Lancaster Park :— Akaroa — Penlington (2), Allison, Thomson, Nicholls, Wright, Taylor, Cross, Noonan, Sims, Watkins, Narbey, Armstrong and Sbadbolt; emergencies — Nicholls, Cross and Curry. Sydenham — Young, Collins, Patterson, Sobaon, A. Forrester, Dardis, Thompson, Duncan, Lear, Meikleham, Hall, Shadbolfc, Pros&er, Thomas and Waddell; emergencies — H. Forrester and Kent. A match was played on the Domain ground, Ashburton, on Wednesday afternoon between the Ashburton Second Fifteen and the tradesmen, which, after a good game, resulted in favour of the former by seven points to nil.
