TuEBDAT, AUGUBT 1. APTEHNOON SITTING. The Council met at 2.30. The Imprest Supply . Bill (No. 2) was received from the House and passed through aU its afcagea. PETITION. Sir G. S. Whitmobk presented a petition from 1900 shopkeepers in Canterbury agaiuat the Shop Hours Bill. MAGISTRATES' COTTRTB. The Magistrate^ Courtß Bill wsb further considered in Committee. The Hon J. M'Gbkgob, on Clause 121, moved an addition to enable shares in a Joint Stick Company to be seized by a bailiff on a distress warrant. The Attobnky-Genbrai. opposod the amendment, which was withdrawn. Progress was reported on a new clause, 15&, with leave to Bit again. INBTITOTB OF JOUBNALI6T3. The New Zealand Inetituta of Journalists Bill was read a third time and passed. . The Council adjourned till next day.
