Kaiapoi Borough Council.
The u&ual meeting of the Kaiapoi Borough Council was held in the chambers on Tuesday evening ; present — His Worship the Major, and Councillors Bugg, LißEaman, Hopkins, Mathows, We3top, Evanß, Butt and Brighting. Cor- / respon^ence was received— From the Palmerßton Council, in regard tocharginglOper cent on all overdue rates. The suggestion was agreed to. From the Treasury Department, notifying having paid the . sum of £25 5b Id into the Borough account at the Bank of New Zealand. From the Eangiora and Mandeville Eoad Board, asking Lave to obtain grit from the Council's reserve. The action of the Mayor in granting permission was approved. From Mr Kenknight, enclosing a cheque for £A 10a as rent for the Cemetery reserve, and stating his willingness to keep on the same if not already applied for. It wsb decided to advertise for tenders for leasing the reserve. From Mr J. Holland, drawing the Council's attention to the footpath in Raven street. Referred to the Works Committee. From Messrs Wilding and Lewis, as solicitors for Mr Brick, asking for permission for their client to execute a mortgage of the Council's reserve at Dromore to Mr Gould, Chrißtchurch. It was resolved to a\lov? the same subject to the Council's Solicitors' approval, and to all coßta being paid by the lessee. It was . decided to call for tenders for a man with horse and dray for twelve moathß. The business left over from last meeting, viz., Dudley's drain, the purchase of sections adjoining Darnley Square, and the matter relating to Baker's Trustees were adjourned for consideration till next meeting. The Finance Committee reported r; eeipta £31 15s Id and debit balance at the liauk ,£383 ia 'id. Accounts amounting to Jell 0s 8d wero passed for payment, and the Council adjourned^
