Riccarton Training Notes.

. .. Wednesday. An exceptionally heavy frost lay on the ground this morniDg, and the tracks, Bodden by the rain of Saturday and Monday, were frozen hard. It had bsen arranged, however, that the grass should be thrown open, and consequently a fair amount of fast work was accomplished.: Melußina and Awarua Boae were associate* in a gallop once round at threequarter pace, while Eetina and Specbon in turn, accomplished Bimikr exercise, and Justice and St Barbe covered two roundß BteacUly. Gondolier and Tiritea were led by Kapua in a strong gallop over four mile?. Both Tiritea and Kapua moved well, but Gondolier hardly pleased the onlookers. Viotrix moved freely over two rounds at a fairly strong pace. Empire worked steadily, and Master Royal strode twice round at a good Bteady pace; Vogengang and Shelah worked slowly and steadily twice round, and Erin-go-Bragh. looking fresh and well, performed similar exercise, finishing fast. Roseguard moved freely twice round at a strong pace, Solomon worked steadily, as did Lawrence and Clyde, Tjhile Rebel, who arrived from puuedm yeaterday, looking well, merely trotted. Bloodsucker strode twice round at ? & 00 . d Btead y P aoe * wl »k Lord Hopetoun and Unity each accomplished useful exer? ciae, and Jaffa was an.ong those that worked steadily. Clarence had the asßiatr ance of Radical in a strong gallop twioe round. The Grand National Steeplechase candidate, who, though a trifle big 1 , is hard and muscular, moved freely and well. Wayland by himself galloped twice round at a serviceable pace, while Kulnine and Norton were associated in a gallop twice round, the first steadily and the Becond fast. Kulnine pulled hard all the way and moved very freely, but Norton hardly appeared anxious to increase the pace. Cajolery made his reappearance after his enforced rest, and cantered twice round, brushing home faßt, while a number of other horses without engagements next week accomplished steady exercise.
