The Christchurch Working Men's Co-operative Society
1 The fifteenth quarterly meeting of the ChriEtjhurch Working Men's Co-operative Society was held la.t evening, at the Oddfellowß' Chambers. There was a large attendance, Mr T. A. Bullock, President, in the chair. The Committee, in its report, congratulated the shareholders upon the continued success of the Society during the past quarter; 115 new members had joined, holding 391 shares, while 8 members, holding 31 shares, bad retired, leaving 886 members holding 2890 shares. The paid-up capital was .£1827 3s lld, or about 12s 9d per share. It had been decided to call for tenders for the extension of the present premises, owing to the increase of business. The annual " social," held on June 13, was a great success. The cash sales for the past quarter had been ,£4515 0s Gd, an average of over .£347 per week, being .£7l per week more than last quarter's average. The divisible profit, after paying all working expenses, amounted to _£450 153, and the Committee recommended that ifc should be used in the following manner :-—Bonus on paid-up capital at 7 per cent per annum, -231 19s Gd; bonus on members' purchases at la 5d in the <£, .£305 Is lOd ; bonus on non-mem-ber 3' purchases at 8d in the £, .£11 133 4cl • bonus on wages at 13 5d iv the £, -£19 12i lld ; depreciation on fixed stock, _£1G Ss; depreciation on rolling stock, £\Q

On tho motion of the Chairman the report aud balancesheet wore adopted unanimously. The following officer- wero re-elected :—Secretary, Mr J. A. Efford j Comroittc-o, Messrs L. Browitt and H. Chaplin; Auditor, Mr ; Joseph Jebson. It waa decided, after dis- ! cussion, that the additions to the building Bhould bo done by day labour. The meet- ■ ing then terminated. j
