The Unemployed.

A meeting of the unemployed was held this morning, when there were about forty men present. A review of what had been done yesterday was given, and it was unanimously resolved that the Committee convey the thanks of the meeting to the local bodies that had given such prompt assistance. The men still out of work will meet again to-morrow morning. Mr 0. Burgess, the Chairman of the Avon Boad Board, has called a special meeting of the Board for Friday evening next, to take into consideration the best means of providing work for the unemployed. By to-morrow morning twenty-one men will be at work for the City Corporation. They are all married men and residents of Christchurch. This ia as many as the City Surveyor can at present find work for.
