HOSPITAL BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Christchurch Hospital Board was held this afternoon; present — Mr R. H. Wood (Chairman) and Messrs H. W. Peryman, J. Hamilton, J. Bennie, T. Cutler and H. Y. Widdoweon. The Chairman moved — "That a letter of condolence be sent to Mr York, sympathising with him in hie sad bereavement by the death of Mb wife." The meeting expressed unanimous sympathy. HOUBB COMMITTEE'B KEPOBT. The House Committee reported :— "Considering the large expenditure, nearly £300 per annum for gas, for lighting the Hospital, your Committee has had under consideration the lighting of the establishment with electricity. As the Hospital has the steam-power necessary, further information is being obtained as to the cost of installation and maintenance, which will be laid before you Bhortly. The contract in connection with the Lyttelton casual ward is almost finished at a cost of .£2O. Tenders are|to be called for the roofing of the Akaroa Hospital. The other repairs necessary have been provided for in the estimates for the year. Information has been received that the Bill in respect of the site for the Nurses' Home has been printed. In accordance with the established custom of the Board the Bum of £50 is recommended to be voted to supply uniforms to nursee. The receipts were : — Counties — Selwya .£363, Kaikoura £64 123 9d, Aniuri£Gl 10s ; Boroughs— Lyttelton £39 11b, Akaroa £9 12a 6d } Road Boards— Kowai £50, West Eyreton £11 le, Amberlcy, town £7 16b 6d j Patient's fees, £43 18s. Total £687 7s 9(3. Duriug the month ninety-three patieats were admitted, ninety-one were discharged", and eight died, leaving ninety-nine remaining in the Hospital." This report wa3 adopted, and no further busineEß being brought forward, the meet* iug terminated.
