FOOTBALL.

[Special to Pbbss Association.! BEISBANE, July 24. Saturday's game was the best the New Zealanders have yet played. The passing of the whole team was very fine. Wynyard played a great game, and all the other backs showed much dash and were very safe. Butland and Bayly did some passing of the highest order. Cockroft and M'Kenzie were the most prominent forward, but all were seen at their best.

[Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, July 24. The Otago Daily Times, presumably writing authoritatively, says that nothing is likely to come of the proposed combined Otago and Canterbury team v. New Zealand match, as, apart from a number of other objections, the time available is much too short to permit a representative Otago and Canterbury team being got together.
