The quantity of wool catalogued at the auctions just over was 337,800 bales ; 139,000 were sold for export, and the home trade took 178,000. < Sixty-one thousand bales were held j over. J The American and Continental > wheat markets are declining, and the ; English is weak in tone. Prices are unchanged. A cargo of Victorian wheat has been sold tor 295. The New Zealand Land Association, Limited, has received the following cable message, dated LONDON, July 21. "Wool.— The sales closed firmly this day. Since the close of last sales ■ greasy merino, superfine greasy j cross-bred and fine scoured cross- 1 bred, are Id per lb lower. Washed merino super, scoured merino super, washed merino medium, and inferior, are to Id per lb lower. Greasy ; | merino medium and inferior, and ' medium greasy cross-bred, are fib < lower, Medium washed cross-bred, medium scoured cross bred and , greasy cross-bred lambs, are f d to Id per lb per lower. Coarse greasy cross- J bred, coarse washed cross-bred, coarse . scoured cross-bred and greasy merino ; lambs, super, medium and inferior, are f d per lb lower. The total quan- \ tity sold during the past sales is . 314,000 bales, o£ which 139,000 have : been taken for export, and it is estimated 62,000 have been held over for future disposal. Tallow is dull of sale. Fine mutton tallow is worth 30s, good beef 28s 3d per cwt. Frozen Meat. — New Zealand mutton : There is a fair demand. Canterbury is worth 3f d, Wellington 3|d per lb. The lamb market is dull. Prime New Zealand lambs are worth, per carcase, 4|d per lb. The beef market is firmer. New Zealand beef foreqaarters are worth 3fd, hindquarters 5f d per lb.
