CANTERBURY TROTTING CLUB.

A [meeting of the newly-elected Committee of the Canterbury Trotting Club was held on Friday evening at the Al Hotel to .draw vp a programme for the next; meeting, to elect officers for tho ensuing year, and to consider other matters. Before the business commenced Mr H. F. fieece, the newlyelected President, invited the members to partake of refreshments. Mr H. Reynolds proposed the health of " Our New President," which was drunk with musical honour?. In replying, Mr Beece stated that he would endeavour to keep the Club a purely sporting institution. He desired to make several suggestions regarding^ the' grounds, one being that of having a space round the Judge's box fenced off for the convenience of ladies. The following officials were appointed for the ensuing meeting:—Judge, Mr William Boag; Vice-presidents, Messrs M'llraith, Boag and M'JKae; Starter, Mr H. Piper; Hon Clerk of the Scales, Mr H. Reynolds; Hon Clerk of the Course, Mr Sanderland; Hon Time-keeper, Mr D. Barns; Handicappera, Mesars Piper andStyche; Ground Committee, Messrs Beece, Tonka, Walker and Duncan. It was decided to hold the next meeting on Friday, August 11. The following programme was drawn up:— Maiden' Trot in saddle, of 25 soys, two miles; Maiden Trot in harness, of 25 soys, two miles; Class Trot in saddle, of 70sovs, two miles; Stallion Trot in harneßß, of 35 soys and cup value 10 guineas, two miles; Selling Trot in harness, of 30 sovb, two miles }r Handicap Trot in harness, of 70 soys, three miles; Handicap Trot in saddle, of 35 soys, one mile j Handicap Trot in harness, of 35 sovb, one mile.
