The adjourned annual meeting of the Committees in the four Sydenham. Licensing districts were held at the Sydenham Borough Council at noon to-day, All the members were present, and there was a very large attendance of the public. Mr Caygill was the sole representative of the legal profession present. Money for a license for the Southern Hotel was granted. NSWTOWN. The application of A. J. Lawrence for a renewal of the license for the Club Hotel was granted. The application of C. F. Money for a license for the Sydenham Hotel was refused, the Committee considering that there was no necessity for the house. The Chairman asked if the applicant applied for a further adjournment. Mr Caygill contended that Mr Money was not entitled to an adjournment unless the Committee refused the application of their own motion. He did not consider they had done so in this case. Mr Money decided not to aßk for an adjournment, but said he would bow to the decision of the Committee. # Bichard Hadfield's application for a license for the Crown Hotel was granted, conditionally on the house being put in thorough repair. WALTHAM. Henry Stark Drummond was granted a renewal of his license for the Waltham Arms Hotel. The application of John Johnston for a license for the Kingston Hotel was refused, on the ground that there was no necessity for the house. SYDENHAM EAST. Thomas Quill was granted a renewal of the license for the Lancaster Park Hotel. Mr Quill asked the Committee to take into consideration the question of granting an eleven o'clock license, and pointed out the inconvenience many people would be put to if this were not granted. The Chairman said the Committee admitted the force of the views advanced by Mr Quill, but they had decided on a general policy which they did not intend to break through. It should be remembered that there was a certain popular feeling in the district, which must be respected. The Committee had therefore decided to adhere to ten o'clock closing for the preEent year. Joseph Traynor was granted a license for the Sandridge Hotel, conditionally on the house being put in thorough repair. The Chairman said there was only one general remark the Committee wished to make. Licensees must respect their contracts with the Committee, and would be required to conduct their houses in accordance with the conditions laid down in the Act.
