Theatre Royal. — The final performance of Struck Oil, last night, was witnessed by a capital house. The melodrama went very well ; Maggie Moore'B Bongs were encored, and the principals were called before the curtain. The Chinese Question, < waa equally successful in amusing the • audience. This evening the comedy-drama , Forty nine will be produced for the first timo in Christchurcb. It is a story of the earlier Californiau goldmining days. Ac- j cording to exchanges, it is, aa far as j dramatic and literary merit is concerned, much in advance of Struck Oil, possessing dramatic action and originality, tinged with tender sentiment, cleverly and most interestingly unfolded. Its authors are Bret Harte and Berkley Campbell, names ' celebrated in American literature.
