PRESIDENT'S CUP.
The match Christchurch v. Canterbury College was won by the former by default. The match between the East Christchurch Third and the Lancaster First resulted in a win for the latter, after a very close game, by eiz points to two. Merivale Third beat Sydenham Third by two goals one try (twelve points) to three tries (six points). Crawfurd (2) and Fraser scored tries for Meiivale, Lambert placing two goals. Halliday, Shadbolt and Furd B3ored for Sydenham. In the match North Canterbury Second y. Pirates Second, played at Bangiora, the home team won by nine points to nil, the score being made up of a goal from a mark and one from a try obtained by Gray. The match Christ's College v. Linwood Third resulted in & decisive win for the College by fifty-two points to ml. Nalder scored five tries, Grigg three; Walker, Neill and Macdonald one each. Hallamore, Grigg and Nalder converted nine tries between them, and Grigg kicked a penalty goal. Berry and Duncan played well for Linwood. The College team played with splendid combination, and the passing was excellent. Mr J. TJ. Collins acted as referee. Albion beat Kaiapoi Third after a good game by two points to nothing. Inglis, Carr and Bains (the first-named scoring) played well for the winners, while Pierce, M'Bride and Eevell played a fine uphill game for Kaiapoi.
OTHER MATCHES. The match Kotere v. Albion Second, resulted in a win for the latter by four points to two. Hunt and Harris scored for the winners and Oliver for the losers. Albion Third v. Northern, resulted in a draw, ten points to ten. Shaw and Gardner scored tries for the Northern, Irvine converting. Glennie, Cook and Ozier scored tries for Albion, and Reese potted a goal. The North U&nterbury Third played the Kaiapoi Fourth at the Rangiora High School ground, and the latter won by a try, scored by D. Brown, to nil. The match Southern v. Waltham ended in a win for the former by eight points (two goals), potted by Bird, to nil.
PRESENTATION TO ME P. HOBBS. On Saturday evening at the Clarendon Hotel there was a large mußter of members of the Eißt Chrißtchurch Club, who were present for the purpose of bidding farewell to the popular full-back, Mr F. Hobbs, who leaves to-day for Timaru. There were also present, by invitation, several members of the Merivale Club. Dr Jennings, one of the Club's VicePresidents, occupied the chair, and prosented Mr Hobba with a memento in the • shape of % handsome gold Albert chain, i He called upon those present to drint 1 Mr Hobba' health and future success t and this was done with much heartiness
