A meeting of the Committee of tbe Canterbury Eugby Union was held at the Clarendon Hotel yesterday evening ; pre- ■ sent-- Mr G. H. Mason (in the chair), and Messrs F. T. -Evans, W. A. Oooke, J. S. Hawkes, T. E. Cresswell, T. S. Marshall (Hon. Secretary) and T. W. Reese, (Hon. Treasurer). The Secretary Btated that, together with Dr Moorhouße, he had interviewed a Subcommittee from the Lancaster Park Ground Company with regard to terms for the use of Lancaster Park during the forthcoming football season. Although the Lancaster Park .Company could not at present see its way . to erect an additional grand stand, he felt sure that the Eugby Union would meet with very satisfactory treatment during the ensuing season. After some discussion, Mr Cresswell moved — "That it be a recommendation to the Canterbury Eugby Union to accept the terms offered by the Lancaster Park Ground Company for the use of Lancaster Park." Mr Hawkes seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. The Secretary stated that the Union's "Annual ' would probably be completed before the Club matches commenced. Some of the Clubs bad not yet sent in their returns, but he hoped to have them at an early date. The photograph of the Canterbury representatives, who represented, the Province last year in the northern and southern interprovincial matches, was nearly finished, and would be included in tho " Annual." He had also arranged to have an account of the northern tour published in the "Annual." The question of playing matches on Thursday afternoons was held over until the annual meeting of the Union. The annual report and balance-sheet, to be presented to the annual meeting, were considered. It was decided to hold the annual meeting at the Clarendon Hotel on Saturday, March 25. After disposing of some minor matters the meetincr terminated.
