There was a good attendance, and a capital programme was contributed. Songs were given by Mrs Wills, Miss Mangels* Martha Parrefct and Mr J. F. Watson ; Misßes E. Miller and A. Luney sang., a duet; and recitations were given bv Miss E. Tobe^jk, Ernest Watson, Willie Hellewell, Willie Perrett and David Griffiths. Theßev C. Griffin delivered an address. Correspondence was read from the Canter- . bury Band of Hope Union, stating that the annual , demonstration would be held on Easter Monday in Hagley Park, and that a recitation compaction would take place daring the day. Atalanta Cycling Club. — A general meeting of the members of tbe Ladies* Atalanta Cycling Club was held in the Women's Christian Temperance Union coffee ! rooms yesterday evening. There was a very good attendance of members, and the Captain, Miss Blanche Loogh", presided. Honorary Secretary, Mrs Barn, sent in her resignation, as sheVptild be leaving Christchuroh' at an early date. The resignation was accepted with regret, and Mise Barker was appointed to fill the positions of Hon Secretary and Treasurer. Two new members were elected, and two runs were arranged to be held at an early date. After disposing of some minor bnsineßS, the meeting ckmed with a vote of thanks to the Captain. Sydhnham Potjltbt {society. — 1 moetof the Committee of this Society was held on Friday; Mr A. L. Myers, Vice-Presi-dent, occupied the chair, and there was a full attendance of the Committee. Mr A. Isles' name was added to the Committee. :Qn the motion of Mr A. Walker it was decided to hold the next show on July 5 and 6, to close the entries on June 24 and to pay the prize money on July 17. Several -new classes were added , to the prize sohedcle, amongst them being a novice class for fanciers that have never won a prize for pigeons in New Zealand, the first prize to be a pair of pigeons of the value of JB3 3s,' offered by Mr A. Smith; the second prize 7s 6d, and the third prize sb. New selling classes for poultry aud pigeons, a* olaes for ehow homers, and a pige6n flying race were also added. A number of special prizes were received! „ ExpaßiTioN of Silks.— Messrs Ballantyne and^Co. have just arranged in one of their windows a very beautiful exhibit illustrating the silk industry in its various stages from the tiny speck-like e«g of the silkworm to the rich corded and twilled silks, for the. sale of which they have been appointed sole agents in Canterbury. In a case in the centre of the window are mounted collections from life of the silkworm eggs, baby silkworms and .nine or ten growths, up to the fully developed worm of about four inches in length ; chrysalides, silkworm moths, silk cocoons from a &nowy white to a beautiful golden hue, and lovely ekeins of whito and golden ' silk, all in an absolutely natural state. The manufactured silks, which are very tastefully-displayed, are in various colours and qualities, but all are made of a "double warp," and Messrs ßallanfcyne and Co. give an absolute guarantee against bad wear. The exhibit is well worth inspection. SICHMOND AMATEtXJB SWIMMING CIUB. A meeting of the Committee of the Richmond Amateur Swimming Club was held ia the schoolroom last night; present— l£r H. 0. Craddook (in the chair) and Mesßra H. Hiorns, A. P. Gibson, C. Bradford, C. J. Styche (Hon Treasurer), and G. Milne (Hon Secretary). It was decided to auk Mr E. W. Roper to act as starter, and Mr S.
