HOSPITAL BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING. . An ordinary monthly' meeting o*'*"® Chriatohurob Hospital Board was held yesterday j present— Mr R. H. Wood /Chairman), and Messrs H. W. Perymau, j J. Hamilton, B. D. Thomas, J. Beanie, W. Moor, T. Cntler and T. York. Apologies for absence were received from MeßßrsWiddowßonand'Mulcook. HO-DBB COMMITTKB'S BBPOBT. The wards are now occupied by patients. In view ofeffectmg ' economy, your Committee haß considered the question of obtaining from the manufacturetß a supply of crockery which will bear the mark of the Hospital} also, surgical dressing, &c, and it asks authority to aend accordingly. The present chimney shaft not being of sufficient height and) , area for th£ two boilerß, your Committee obtained expert advice, and now begs to • 'recommend that a new one be built according to requirements at an eatimated ooßt of £80 or JB9O. With regard to the proposed • site for the ' 3STarßeB* Home, yoar. Committee haß had levels taken and the site surveyed, planß being on the table. It is found that to effeot proper drainage therefrom to the present main sewer, the pipeß at the site will : require to be supported at least seven feet above the ground. Under these circumstances the question ariseß as to whether v we should proceed further in considering the site under proposal. Aa the year for the Buppliea to the Hospital closes on Maroh 31, 1 will ask the Board to autho- ■ Tiße the Committee to call for and aocept tenders Bubjeot to the approval of the Board. During the month ninety-one patients were admitted, seventy-six dia■oharged and four died, leaving eighty-five remaining in the hospital. The receipts were :— Selwyn County, -6339 5s ? Oxford Eoad Board, £33 11s ; Sydenham Borough, 1.JL12 13a; Ohriatohureh Borough, £221 ; St Albana Borough, £112 17s; eubsidy from ■ Government, .£630 8s 7d; Waipara Road Board, £100; patients' feea, .£23 6b; total, £1582 15s 7d. The expenditure was £620 :«te ; 7d. Eyretonßoad Board, .£76 15a 6d, and Mandeville and Eangiora, £52 13s 6d, •v have since been received. . A- dißoueaion took place with regard to : the proposed site for the ereotion of the Nursea' Home; ■ , . ' ■•;■ Mr Moor ultimately moved— '• That the . mattewbe referred back to the Committee, to get expert evidence as to the coßt of •■■ erecting the proposed Home." s■i iu Mr Peryman seconded the motion, which waß carried. The' other olaußes in the report were <, > adopted. ..,:;. COBBBBPONDINOB. A letter was read from the Lyttelton .Borough Counoil in reference to the casual /ward. After a discussion the letter was referred to the Committee to report upon. A letter was read from the Chriatchurch , Domain Board, stating that the Board would offer no opposition to the proposed ' aite for the ereotion of the Nurses' Home, : provided that the design of the building „ .was first submitted to the Board. ' The letter was received. THE HINEMOA CASE. Mr Moor said he would like to know how many sailors from the ship Hinemoa were , in the Hospital suffering from typhoid ; fever. The doctors in Lyttelton were of , opinion that there was no necessity to take the ship away from the wharf at all.
