Henderson, Esqa.) . ■ Drunkenness.— John Brace Wateon was fined J&l and costs, in. default eeven days' imprisonment, — Alexander Cowan, who did not appear, waa fined 10a, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. —Arthur Alexander Hood, who was unfit to appear, was remanded for twenty-four hours. - Attempted Suicide. — Alex. Andrews pleaded " Guilty " to a charge of attempting to commit Buictde at Chtiatchurch on Feb.- 10. Accused said he came down from the country recently, and, when he was badly under the influence of drink, committed the raßh act. He said he had work to go to, and, after he had promised not to repeat the offence, the Bench dismissed the case. Alleged False Pjbetences. — Margaret Mary Belinda Todd, an old woman, was charged that she did, between Jan. 10 and Feb. 6, 1893, at Greenpark, tinlawf ally and knowingly, by means of false pretenceß, obtain from Robert John Weatherall board and .lodging to the amount of £2 2s and certain benefits to the amount of £1 10 a lid. Accused elected to be dealt with summarily, and pleaded "Guilty." Serr geant- Major Mason said accused was a very old offender, and was at present undergoing a sentience of six months' imprisonment for vagrancy. She deliberately went to Mr Weatherall's and said Bhe had a farm which she would make over to his wife if he allowed her to live at his house for a short period. After being treated very kindly by Mrs Weatherall for a few weeks, accused left without Baying where she was going to. She did nob return, and information was sent to the police. The Bench said there was no doubt that the accused was on impostor, and she would be sentenced to four months' imprisonment, with hard labour.
