i Hessian Flt.— The dreaded Hessian fly has extended its ravages over a much wider area than waa at firet anticipated (cays the Clutha Free Press). It has been found pretty well all over the district between Waihola and the Clutha. It is now found to have invaded the Tuapeka district, and its ravages may be eeen in the wheat cropsat Evans' Plat and at Tuapeka West. The pest has aleo been found in the wheat crops in the Taieri, so that unless farmers wake np to the teal danger ahead, and take prompt measures to suppress tbe pest, wheat-growing will have to be abandoned over a wide stretch of country for eosne. years to come. | > To Cttbe Skis IhssKefs,— Sulpholina Loti.n .rives away all Br option., J. imples.
