With reference to the claim of the men who obtained judgment in Court for wages i from Bennett, contractor for works on the Great North road, Bennett has written to the Newton Borough Council abandoning > the contract, and asking that the men should be paid their wagea from the moneys accruing to him, and now in the hands of the Council.
