Mr Herrick states that he has received about 100 yds of material, and has volunteers for very much more work if material is forthcoming. At a special general meeting of the Christchurch Working Men's Club, held in the large hall last evening, there was a large attendance of members to discuss the best means of assisting the sufferers by the floods in Queensland. The President, Mr T. Stapleton, oocupied the chair. Mr W. K Hobbs moved— "That a sum of £20 be voted from the Club's funds towards the relief fund, and that a subscription list be at once opened and placed in the Club for members' private subscriptions." Mr Martin seconded the motion, Which was carried unanimously. A subsequent motion was adopted, which provided for the money given by the Club and its members being forwarded in flour, and Messrs Stapleton and Martin were appointed % Committee to purchase the flour and bos to it being forwarded. A subscription list was at once opened in the room, and soon contained several pounds given by the members present, and Mr Stapleton entered with vigour upon the duty of canvassing. The Timaru Garrison Band gave an open-air concert on Caroline Bay on Sunday afternoon, and collected £25 for the Queensland Belief Fund. At St Stephen's Church, Ashbnrtpn, on Sunday, the offertories, which will be devoted to the relief fund, amounted to £24,. At a mooting cf the Ariel Bicycle Club held at Ashburton on Friday evening, it was resolved to hold a meeting early in March, and to give half the net proceeds to the Queensland Belief Fund. At Sd John's Church, Winchester, and at St Saviour's.Temuka, on Sunday, the sum of £10 was collected towards the relief fund. A public meeting was held at Temttka laat night, to devise measures of relief. The Executive Committee of the Christchurch relief fund hns arranged to meet at the City Coucil office at 11 a.m. each day; 1 The Eev John Hosking will lecture this evening at the Methodist Free Church, St Asaph street.
