North Cantebbtot Saletabds.— The plan adopted by the North Canterbury Saleyards Company for its yards at Rangiora Bhowß that accommodation will be provided for 20,000 sheep, 250 head of cattle and 500 pigs. The yards will cover two acres and a half, and the other four acres of the Company's land will be utilised for the temporary paddocking of stock. The pens, which number about 230, will be substantially built of sawn timber. A set of six comfortable offices will be provided for the auctioneers, and a sheep dip is to be constructed. The Band CoNTEST.-i-A meeting of the Christchurch Contest Committee was held on Saturday evening at Fuoh'a Hotel, Mr Fellingham (Sydenham) occupying the chair. Messrs Daniels and Turner reported that several replies had been received from gentlemen written to in reference to their support and patronage, and that favourable answers had come to hand from the Hon W. P. Reeves, Sir John Hall, Mr J. Joyce, the Mayors of Christohuroh and Sydenham, Mr A. E. G. Rhodeßand others. Many other replies* were expected. The Secretary reported that the. Theatre Royal would not be available for the contest* and it was decided to engage the Tuam street Hall.
