St Albanb School Committee.— At a special meeting of the 8t Alban* School Committee held last evening, there being present Mr H. A'Court (in the chair), and all the members, it Was decided to vote for Mrs Wilson, Messrs Peryman and Munnings for the vacancies on the Education Board. Twenty-five applications were received for the pos : tion of assistant mistress at the side Bchool, rendered vacant by the resignation of Miss M. A. Hunt. After consideration of the applications and testimonials, Mißs Eliza Newell was chosen. Sydenhah Co-oebbativb Money Club. —The adjourned annual meeting of the Sydenham Co-operative Money Club was held last night in the Wesleyan School- ; room. There was a moderate attendance, and Mr J. E. Brunt, President of the Club, occupied the chair. The business for which the meeting had been convened was the alteration of some of the ruleß relative to the amount of stock to be held by the Club. After a full discussion some amendments were carried : they will be brought up for confirmation at a future meeting. ; Sydenham School Committee. — The \ School Committee met on Tuesday evening? present—Mr J; L. Scott (in the' chair), and Messra W. H. Harvey, F. C. [ Hall, J. Forrester, E. Jones, W. Jacques, W. H. Meikleham and S. Wilson. "Ifc was resolved to vote for Messrs Adams, Meredith and Peryman as members of the Education Board. A letter was received from Mr J. Gray, in which he stated that two of his sons attending the school had gained Eduction Board scholarships, and be attributed their success to the untiring effortß and energy of Mr Baldwin, the head master, and Mr Brook, first assistant, and requested that his deep gratitude and appreciation of their efforts should be conveyed to them. It was resolved that* a copy of the letter should be forwarded to the head master. Picnics.— The employees of Messrs Andrews and Beaven have decided to hold their annual picnic at Bligh'a gardens on Friday, Feb. 24. They will leave Cathedral Square by the 8.30 a.m. tram.— The Canterbury Freethought Association will hold its eleventh annual picnic at Sumner tomorrow. A special tram accompanied by a band, will leave the Square at 10 a.m.— The employees of the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association held their annual picnic on Thursday on the grounds of Mr H. W. Peryman, at Lavington Farm, Tai Tapu. The day was very warm and windy ; but; owing to the splendid shelter afforded by trees, the party was enabled to thoroughly enjoy the outing without any annoyance from wind. About two hundred were present, including the' wives and friends of the employees. Befreshments were plentifully provided by the Committee,: and everything was done to make . the gathering a success. Games of all kinds were indulged in till a late hoar, the children being specially provided for in this respect. Before leaving the ground, cheers were given for Mr and -Mrs Peryman. Eichmond Amateur BwiMming Club.— A meeting of the Committee of the Bichmorid Amateur Swimming Club was held in the Eichmond district schoolroom yesterday evening; present— Mr F. J. Craddock (in the chair), and Mensrs C. Bradford, H. O. Craddock, H. E. E. Hiorne, A. P. Gibson, 0. J. Styche (Honorary Treasurer), and Geo. Milne (Honorary Secretary.) Seventy-two members were elected. The Secretary submitted a code of rules, which were discussed at considerable length. Several were passed, and others were amended and ordered to be submitted to theigeneral meeting of members on Monday evening. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Milne, seconded by Mr Bradford, that the Club colours should be black, with a white sash two and a half inches wide. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Milne, seconded by Mr F. J. Craddockj that a 50yds handicap, open to the whole Club, should be held in the bath on Friday, March 3. It was decided to give two prizes, and to ask Mr W. J. S. Hay ward to act as timekeeper} the handicap to be framed by the Committee. A discussion took place on the question of the advisableness of holding an aquatio carnival at an early/date. April, was suggested as a suitable date, but it was eventually decided to leave the matter over till next meeting. Mr J. Abercrombie, a vicePresident of the Club, attended, and stated that a gentleman had offered to give two guineas towards the prize fund. After a large amount of routine business, had. been transacted, the meeting terminated. The D.l.C.— The annual excursion in connection with the sales departments of the Drapery and General Importing Company, Limited, took place on Thursday, and the outing' was most' enjoyable; "The party, numbering upwards of a hundred, assembled at the warehouse at 9 a.m., where four four-horse drags and other conveyances awaited to take the company to its destination. A most pleasant and exhilarating drive of fourteen miles found the holiday-makers at the grounds of Major Edmondson, who had generously invited the party out and who had placed his grounds at its disposal. Games and sports were indulged in with great vigour, and many of the items, being novel, added life to the occasion, the successful competitors coming off with handsome prizes. During the day the Chairman of Directors, Mr B. Hallenstein, with Mrs and Miss Hallenatein, who are on their way for a visit to the Old Country, attended the gathering. The Manager, Mr E. C. Brown, expressed, on behalf of the entire staff, th& great pleasure felt at the presence of the Chairman and family, the regret at their intended prolonged absence from the Colony, and the heartfelt wishes for a happy and prosperous voyage, a pleasant time in the Old Land, and a safe return to the Colony. Mr Hallenatein, having returned thanks, shook hands with those around him, and, amid cheers, drove off to rejoin his ship. The whole company returned to town about 9 p.m., after spend-, ing a happy day in the country. Cambbii>ge ' Football Club. — The fifth annual general meeting of the members of the Cambridge Football Club was held at the Shades Hotel last night. The President, Mr W. Johnson, occupied the chair, and there was an attendance of thirty members. The Secretary, Mr J. Fisher, read the annual report, which congratulated the Club on winning the Canterbury Bugby Union Junior Flag last season. The Club's first fifteen had played twelve matches, including ope with the Pacific Club, Dunedin, winning all. The second fifteen had played eleven matches, winning five, losing five, and drawing one. A feeling of deep regret was expressed by the Committee at the sudden and untimely death of the Club's full-back, Mr E. Greig, who had occupied that position since the formation of the Club. Mr Greig was a very reliable fall-back, and his position would be hard to fill. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to have amounted to J628, and the expenditure to £24, 10 a, leaving a credit balance of JB3 10a. The assets were valued at about £7, and there were no liabilities. The report and balancesheet were unanimously adopted, and the Secretary was requested to forward a letter of condolence to the late Mr Greig's relative. Six new members were elected. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to those gentlemen who had given Bpecial prizes last season. The election of officers was held over till a future meeting. The question of. Bending a team to Dunediu to play the Pacific Club was held over till the adjourned meeting. Several important matters relating to the welfare pt the Club were considered, after which the meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the Chairman.
