A hurricane drove the vessel ashore. The ; orew reached Noumea in a small yacht that the Jessie had taken to the islands.
[Pbb Pbess Association.] ..■■■'.; WELLINGTON, Fbb. 17. Charles Brown, a Norwegian, lodging at Bartholomew's Sawmill, near Longburn, was killed by a tree, blown by the wind, striking him on the chest. NELSON, Pbb. 17. A man named William Norman, a miner, was terribly injured at the Johnston United Mine, Collingwood, last night, by an explosion of dynamite whioh he thought had missed fire. His right arm was blown off, and other injuries were sustained. He is being brought to Nelson by special steamer.
