Stjmidat Lectubbs.— To-morrow evening afc the Lyceum Mr, W. W. Collins will lecture at 7.30 on "The Religion of Egypt." To-morrow being the annual picnic day of the Freethinkers, there will be no lecture in the afternoon, and the evening meeting will commence half an hour later tkan usual. Su»oAy •Shevices.— At the Durham street Weßleyan Church, the Eev L. MIsitt will preach in the morning end the BevH. E. Dewobury in the evening. At East Belt, the Eev E. J. Murray will preach in the morning and the Eev L. M. laitt in the evening. The Eev E. J Murray will conduct the service in Hayward's Hall, Summer, in the evening. At the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church the Eev W. Birch, will preach both morning and evening. The Bubjeote of Mr Worthington'a lectureß at the Temple of Truth will be " One Thing" and "Pseudoficience and Peoudo-Beligion."

Land Settlement. — On Thursday night a well-attended meeting of persons interested in forming an Association for taking up land on the Cheviot Estate was held in Hanson's buildings, Kaiapoi. After hearing a copy of the land regulations read, the meeting decided to form an Association to apply for a block under the Special Settlement clause, and the signatures of those present were obtained. Mr C. Bansen was unanimously appointed President of the Association, and Mr R. H. Mathewe, Secretary. <
