I The President bas vetoed the resolution of the Committee of the Senate in favour of establishing 3 per cent bonds by which to maintain the gold reserve. ! The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received the following cable message, dated :— LONDON, Fbb. 17. Tallow i* in good demand, especially edible beef and mutton, owing to arrivals not being equal to trade requirements. Fine mutton and good beef tallow are worth respectively 40s 6d and 34s per cwt. Frozen Meat. — Mutton market has a downward tendency, but quotations are unchanged since last telegram. New Zealand Lamb.— Stocks are light. Prime New Zealand are worth 6jdperlb. The beef market is firmer. New Zealand fore-quarters are worth 3|d per Ib. Other quotations are unchanged since last telegram.
