Labour Men on the Bench.
« [Per Pbess Association.] DTJNEDIN, Nov. 2. The Star says the Government intends appointing to the Commission of the Peace two labour men in each centre.
The Qovebkob. — A. telegram received yesterday by Mr A. Boyle from his Excellency the Governor stateß that his Excellency will arrive at Lyttelton by the b.b. Takapnna to-day. The public reception, however, will take place to-morrow, aa originally fixed. His Excellency will be met by the Mayor on his arrival to-day. At the reception to-morrow the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry will furnish an escort for his Excellency. The Chrißtchurch Eifles and the A Company are to furnish a guard of honour around the platform in Cathedral square. The City Guards and Scottish Eiflea are to furnish a guard of honour at the Provincial Council Buildings at 8.45 p.m. on Nov. 10, on the occasion of his Excellency's visit to the Canterbury Jockey Club ball*
