The Chronicle urges tbat Lord Carrington ought to succeed Lord Knutsford in the Colonial Office, and not be sent to Ireland ; and considers that Mr Gladstone's majority is enough to enable the Liberals to do a great deal of work. The St James' Gasette says that Mi Gladstone demands a pledge from the Irish members before forming bis Cabinet, and the Irish are hesitating
