Mails close for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterai tions :— Thursday, July 21. I For Norfolk Island, per Taluue (to connect with Southern Cros? at Auokland), at 4.20 p.m. ; late fee letters, -t.35 p.m. ; guard's van, 5.30 p.m. train. j For Northern Ports, per Talune, at 4.20 p.m. ; late fee letters, 4.35 p.m. ; guard's van, 5.30 p.m. train. j Friday, July 22. For United Kingdom and Continent of j Europe, via Brindißi, Point de Galle, ; India, China, Japan, &c, and also for Australian Colonies (except Tasmania), and Northern Porfcn of New Zealand, per s.s. Wakatipu, at 7.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 8 p.m. ; guard's van. 9.5 p.m. train. This mail will be due in London od Sept. 2. For Northern Ports and Greymouth, per : Herald, at 12.30 p.m. ; lato fei> letters, 12.45 p.m. ; guard's van, 1.25 p.m. train. For Eaikoura, per Kiwi, at 3 p.m. ; late fee letters, 3.15 p.m.; guard's van, 4 p.m. train.
Note. — The postage on newspapers to places beyond New Zealand is now one halfpenny per two ounces.
