LYTTELTON REGATTA' 1892.

"Smith submitted a statement ] of accounts in connection with the last regatta, from which it appeared that the pnse-nioney amounted to 14a, and that, after paying all accounts, there was a credit balance at the Bank of £* 5s Gd. On the motion of Mr Brico, seconded by Mr C. Brown, the report and balancesheet were received and adopted. Mr G. Laurenson moved, Mr E. M. Griffiths seconded, and it was carried— "That the annual regatta be held as usual, on Jan. 1, and that Mr G. A. Lewm be appointed Hon Secretary." , Mr C. Aschman moved, and Captain M'Clatahie seconded, and it waß agreed— " That Mr T. L. Smith be Hon Treasurer for the regatta." The following were appointed a General Committee, to elect Sub-Committeea and canvassers, and make all arrangements with regard to carrying out the regatta:—* Messrs Shepherd, Nalder, AUwright, Knight, Mitfc: i, Souden, G. Collins, E. Eyre, C. A. Rioh, G. Laurenaon, F. Bsvorley, C. Kirkpatrick, A. M'Williainß, C. Asohman, W. Hildyard, S. E. Webb, J. B. Hill. J. T. Brice, 0. H. Gilmore, J. Joyce, M.H.E., W. Cook, Eonalds, C. Brown, E. J. Scott, T. C. Field, H. N. Hiskens, G. Dimond, J. B. Milsom, H. Wilaon, A. W. Parsons, E. M. Griffiths, C. E. Curtis, J. Stinson, J. Palmer, Captains Kiddey and M'Clatchie, Dra Guthrie and Pairman, and the officers. On the motion of Mr Smith, seconded by Mr Lewin, Mr C. Aschman was appointed assistant Hon Secretary. On the motion of Mr J. B. Hill, seconded by Mr F. Beverley, it waß decided to hold land sports on the same conditions as last yer.r. The Secretary read a letter from his Excellency's Private Secretary, stating that he woul<i be pleased to be tow his patronage on the regatta, ami would endeavour to bo present on the omasion if the date fis i did not interfere with his movements. On the motion of Mr H. lllwright, seconded by Mr Hill, the Secretary was requested to write to His Excellency thanking him for his patronage, and also for his influence and assistance in endeavouring to arrange for the visit of warships to Lyttelton on the occasion of the regatta. Votes of thanks were passed to his Worship the Mayor for acting aB Commodore for last year's regatta, and also to Mr J. Joyce for the interest he had taken in the event while in Wellington. A meeting of the general Committee was held subsequently, when colleotors were appointed as follows :— For Lyttelton : Messrs J. T. Brioe, Mitford, Hildyard, Shephoard and Palmer; and for Christchuroh : Meiidrs Smith, Hill, Cain Brown, F. Boverlcy and Granthain. The suggestion of the out-going Committee, with regard to inserting a schooner race in the programme wi'ii a prize of £15, was discussed, and it was decided to make en* quiries from owners of coasting vessels with a view of ascertaining what support would be likely to be forthcoming. The next meeting of the Committee was fixed for Wednesday, Oct. 21, when the Commodore, Vice-Commodore and a working Committee will be elected.
