Ohoka and Eyreton Jockey Club.

Quill, Although the morning was threatening, quite a large number took passage by the special train to the Ohoka and Eyreton races, and the town contingent formed the bulk of the attendance, the state of the elements preventing a great many of the Bettlers in the district from putting in an appearance. Mills* eh g Iroqnois, aged, 9st 121 b (Morrigan) 3 Captain Abram made play clear of the other pair, the pace being slow. The top weight was still at the bead of affairs passing the stand when a mile had been covered, Magpie then running a couple of lengths in advance of Iroquois. At the top turn, Magpie closed on Captain Abram and securing the inside running held a slight lead as the straight was entered, and increasing his advantage won by a couple of lengths; Iroquois half a length behind the second. Time— 4min 14sec. Dividend — £1 15 b. OHOKA AND EYEETON CUP, of 50 bovb; second horse 10 soys from the stake. One mile and a qnarter. 35 Mr W. H. Marsh's br m Crown Jewel, by Bnndoora— Miranda, 4yrs, 7stßlb (Ross) 1 107 Mr J. T. Murphy's bg Von Tempsky, 4yrs. Bfltslb (Thomson) 2 49 Mr H, Vallance's br g Harkaway, aged, Bst 131 b (Morrig-.n) 3 5 Cocksfoot 6st 71b, and 6 Van Baron 6st, also ran. After several breaks away the flag fell to an excellent start. Passing the stand the field were in a cluster, Von Tempsky having slightly the best of it. Racing along the back of the course Von Tempsky and Crown Jewel singled themselves out, and were neck and neck at the home turn. A fine race resulted in Crown Jewel gaining the verdict by half a length. Harkaway, who came with a rattle in the last furlong, three lengths away third. Time— 2min 22f sec; Dividend £5 2s. HACK HURDLE RACE, of 15 sots. For horees that have never won public money over hardies or steeplechase courses. Weight not less than 10.<t. One mile and a half. 51 Mr C. Becker's br g Begalla, 4yrs (Cleaver) 3 3 Flatcatcber and 0 Stella also ran. Mrs Mullaney and Regalia were quickest away, and were clear of the others over the first fence. Turning into the straight Flatcatcher ran off the course, and got rid of his rider, the saddle turning. Passing the stand Regalia was in front, with Mrs Mullaney close up ; Magpie third, with Stella tailing off. At the back of the course Mrs Mullaney assumed the lead, but Regalia and Magpie closed up at the last bend. A slashing struggle up the straight between Mrs Mullaney and Magpie resulted in a neck victory for the latter, Regalia, close up, third. Time— Bmin Ssec. Dividend JBl l2s.
