WANG AN UI, June 9.
At the annual licensing meeting to-day one licensee failed to apply. Out of eighteen applications four were refused on the ground that the houßea were not required. Ten houaea. were granted ten o'clook licenses and four were granted eleven -o'clock licenses. An order was made that hotel lights be kept burning from sunset to sunrise. ■
DUNEDIN, June 9,
At a meeting of the Roslyn Licensing Committee all licenses were granted for twelve months, after which it was stated thai no licenses will be issued. The Chair* men stated that the Committee expected the law to be observed to the letter, and if unfavourable reports were received at tho quarterly .meeting the licenses would bo cancelled.
