South-West Ward.
| The annual meeting of the L:cenßing 1 Committee of the South-woat Ward of Christchurch wnb held at noon to-day, at the City Council Chambers ; present — Mr ; F. J. Kimbell (Chairman), Messrs J. V. i Ross and J. P. Jameson. The following ! renewals of licene-js were granted, the 1 Police reporting favourably in each case : ' — Florence Goldstone, Royal Hotel ; ; Hannah Hurlihy, British Hotul; Sophia Conway, Rotherfield Hotel; W. 0. Morgan, ] White Swan Hotel; and J. M. Walker, Zetland Arms. In the case of the White ; Horae Hotel, the applicant, Eliza Savage, , who asked for a renewal of her ; license, did not appear, as she was ' suffering from an attack of aethma. , And as there wero complaints of Sunday trading, the application whs adjourned : until Juno 16, to enable her to appear in ' support of it. The application ot" D. H. ; Christie, for a renewal of the license of the i Shades, was adjourned until June 16, to '. enable the licensee to effect some small ! sanitary improvements in tho hotel.
