The Licensing Act.
[P«B Pbsbb Association.! AUCKLAND, June 1. The City North Licensing Committee declined an application that the United Service Hotel, which adjoins the Opera House, and is in a principal part of the city, should be permitted to remain open till eleven o'clock at night. They stated I that the Committee would grant eleven | o'clock licenses if the law were altered so as to provide punishment if houses were kept open after eleven ; but in the present state of the law eleven o'clock licenses meant that the houses were kept i open till twelve.
