Winter Meeting are in every way most satisfactory, the general impression is that the Committee have made a mistake in holding the gathering on Wednesday, and there has been a very great amount of grumbling over the matter. However, should the weather prove fine the gathering will bo held on Wednesday. The Steeplechase is likely to draw a field of nine, and it is generally held that Takapau (lOst) should prove the hardest to beat. Since the acceptances nothing better thaa 5 to 2 is obtainable about him, while, coupled with Theorem for the Hurdle Race, four to one has been freely taken. Theorem reado a "real good thing" for the Hurdle Race, and I think he will find his moet dangerous opponent in Sentinel. Mr Gollan's representative, Ival, was brought up yesterday, but has not yet been seen out,
