THE QUEENSLAND LOAN.

TO THK EDITOR. Sir,—When reading the account of the astounding failure of the Queensland loan in your issue of to-day, and taking into account the recent failure of the Victorian loan, I could not help thinking that if any of the other Colonies attempted to borrow money they would experience the same fate, and I believe it would be a very good thing if this did happen, because then the Colonies would have to follow the example of the Government of the United States, who, in 1857, when they found they could borrow no more money, set to work and manufactured their own, for which they pay no interest. Now, the Queensland Government, having experienced such a gigantio failure, would do well to set the example, and manufacture what money thoy require to carry on the business of the Colony, and thus make themselves self-reliant; and lhave not the slightest doubt that the success which would attend such a movement would cause the other Colonies to follow suit. Thanking you for the space,—l am, &n„ STATE PAPER ISSUE.
