The Bank of England returns published to-day show the total reserve to be £16,070,000, being an increase of ,£2,234,000 aB compared with the previous week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 40"60 per cent. Consols are at 95£. Three months' bills are discounted at 4 per cent. New Zealand inscribed stock, 102 ; 3J- per cent do, 95. The English wheat market is firm at 445. Mutton— Canterbury, 4|d per lb; Wellington, 3§d: Canterbury lamb, sd; beef, forequarters 3|d per lb, liindquartersJsd. There is nothing doing in New Zealand hemp. Wellington, fair quality is nominally at £21 per ton. South Australian wheat is firm at 443 6d; Victorian steady at 445. Svgar — German beet, 13s 4£d; Java, 15s. No. 1 best Scotch pig iron, f ,o,b. in the Clyde, 55s 6d.
