A SENSATIONAL REPORT. [Special to Pbhbb Association.] SYDNEY, Aphil 14. The evening papers to-night publish a | sensational report of a seriouß split in the Cabinet, Messrs M'Millan and Bruce Smith opposing Sir Henry Parkes' proi posal to make Federation a plank in the Government platform at the next election. ; Minister a totally deny the accuracy of the ■ statement. 1 [The positions held by the Ministers ' named are these :— Sir Henry Parkea, i Premier and Colonial Secretary; Mr i M'Millan, Colonial Treasurer ; Mr Bruce Smith, Secretary for Public Works.] [ -. i Writing of the Federation Convention, 1 an Argus contributor says : — " The position • of New Zealand, it may be remarked, haa ' been pretty clearly defined by Sir George Grey. One delegate, growing impatient i with the veteran's numerous speeches, . inquired, ' But does New Zealand mean to , come in P " ' Not at present,' replied Sir i George j 'but we are interested in securing a Constitution which may tempt us to come in later on.' "
