PASSENGERS FOR THE WEST COAST.
Feb. 3— Booked at Warner's Commercial Hotel for the West Coast:— Miss Carter, Bey Forester, Messrs Farrington, G. D. Carter, and H. G. Carter.
Dbep Well at Kaiapoi. — The deep well recently sunk at the borough school haa ceased to flow, and it will be necessary to either pump from it in future or drive to a deeper Btratum. The dry weather so long prevailing has doubtless affected this, sa well aa many others in the torough. Public Libraby fob Sydenham. — At the request of Mr Laslie Smith and some thirty ratepayers, the Sydenham Borough Council laat night relegated the question of a public library to the Finance Committee, to bring up a report at next meeting. A section of land, nearly adjoining the Presbyterian Church, whioh was presented to the borough by the late Mr W. Sefton Moorhouae, is spoken of as a suitable site for the purpose.
