Thk Harvest. — Our BUesmere correspondent writes : — Harvesting in the Ellesmere district is now ia full swing, and the returns promise better results than they did a month ago. The rains which fell ia * the early part of January very materially assisted the growth of the grain, and it is now being harvested in capital condition. Threshing from the Btook has again been indulged in, and the results have been far more satisfactory than was anticipated. One paddock of wheat threshed forty-five bushels, whilst another yielded twentyeight bushels. Cricket. — A match was played at Temuka on Saturday, between Temuka and Timaru, and resulted in a win for the latter team by 74 runs on the first innings. Temuka 41 (Bryara 24 not out), Timaru 116 (W. D. Ferry 22, Macintosh 21, Smith 18, Postlethwaite 12).
