The New Premier.

Mr Ballance, as Premier, is in the place which belongs to the leader of the Liberal party. Before taking that place, bo summed up the situation admirably, by telling his people that, for the first time in Parliamentary history, the Liberal party had come up to Parliament without admixture of foreign element. The big thing before Mr Ballance is, of course, the mountain of pledges given by the paity on the financial question. That mountain he will have to climb. Bursting up ? Nobody who has read the outlines of policy which he gave to the representative of a northern journal some weeks ago, need fear anything of that kind. Mr Ballance will climb his mountain slowly, firmly, and without any danger, or any injustice to any interest.
