Weather Reports.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,— Owing to the yachts Pastime and Mascotte being on their passage to Wellington, the wind and weather notice board at the Lyttelton Post Office has received increased attention during the past two or three days, but on consulting it this morning, and finding, in the face of a strong South-west breeze then blowing, that it was stated to be cairn at Lyttelton, my faith in the reports issued by the Telegraph Department* received a severe shock, and I should like to know if equal reliance is to be placed upon the reports from Christchurcb, Timaru and Oamaru that there was no wind this morning when the reports were sent; or if at Port Chalmers it was really blowing a gale from the South-west, while at Dunedin the wind was light from the North-west. — I am, &c, ENQUIRER.
